«Tras estudiar en la Architectural Association School of Architecture de Londres a comienzos de los años 80, Chipperfield comenzó a trabajar en los estudios de Richard Rogers o Norman Foster, hasta establecer finalmente el suyo en 1984. Hoy en día, además del estudio londinense, cuenta con oficinas en Berlín, Milán y Shanghai.

Ha llevado a cabo proyectos como, el Palacio de Justicia de Salerno (Italia), las instalaciones de la Copa de América de Vela en Valencia, el Museo de Literatura Moderna de Marbach (Alemania), el Cementerio de San Michele en Venecia, la Ciudad de la Justicia de Barcelona, el Neus Museum de Berlín en la Isla de los Museos, o la remodelación del Castillo Sforzesco en Milán.»
